THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN

A film about Frida Darvel Snyders, a singer and a survivor against all odds. We met Frida five years ago. At the time Frida was homeless and living on the streets of Cape Town, in a hard and incredibly violent reality. The essence of the film is Frida, her person and her life today, three years after she left the street. Flashbacks filmed in 2002-2006 make up an important story constituent, to show Fridas development, background and view of society. This is also a story about the social heritage. An exploration of how this shapes us and colours our view of the world and of ourselves. Frida has been able to change her life. Today she lives a sober life, with a stronger self-esteem. She has gone through a big change in her outlook on herself and her life. A healing process of earlier experiences is in progress. She shows us what a strong power a human being possesses. She is looking forward to new possibilities and her personality is flourishing.
